Our new Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship is a general Cardiology program directed by Mark C. Bates, MD.  We received initial accreditation from the ACGME in September, 2017 and are currently recruiting for the July 1, 2018 start date.

Training in our cardiology fellowship involves 3 years of clinical cardiology training in a tertiary care medical center with over 900 beds. The program is focused on assuring an exceptional educational experience that is based on the core competencies of training. Our goal is to provide an experience that will be enduring and useful whether the physician ultimately elects to embark on an academic career or enters clinical practice. Fellows with work within a multidisciplinary team of both noninvasive and invasive cardiologists along with physicians fellowship trained in peripheral vascular and structural heart disease.

Our program provides comprehensive training and exposure in all major areas of cardiovascular medicine. Clinical Rotations are divided into blocks providing thirteen rotations each year.  A sample of our block schedule can be found here.

American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association Level II training is available in the following areas: Cardiovascular Nuclear Medicine; Transesophageal and Transthoracic Echocardiography; Coronary Angiography; and Computed Tomography Coronary Angiography. Fellows will also have elective time available in Structural Heart Disease, Vascular Medicine, or other specialized fields to meet their educational needs.
