Education
The Education Division of the CAMC Institute provides continuing medical education opportunities to physicians, nurses and allied health professionals throughout West Virginia and contiguous states in primary care and all specialty practice areas. These continuing medical education programs are designed to enhance practice skills and improve the health status of the patients served. The Education Division offers live conferences, seminars, workshops; distance education opportunities via media communications; individualized learning opportunities including case scenarios developed in a state of the art simulation center ; enduring materials programs including on-line education programs ; joint-sponsored programs; and, computerized documentation/registration services.

Patient Simulation Center:
The Patient Simulation Center was established in 2005. This center uses the latest in high-fidelity patient simulation manikins to improve learning of clinical skills. Integration of simulation education into the residency curriculum is ongoing. In 2005, Simulation Center teaching rooms were booked for 6,511 hours of instruction.
Telehealth:
CAMC Center for Telehealth represents a collaborative interactive television network in West Virginia with Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) and West Virginia University as the main service centers along with 19 rural sites. These sites include hospitals, community health centers and Veteran's Administration Hospitals. This interactive video network allows rural health care facilities and clinicians throughout West Virginia rapid access to the major educational and technological resources of the state's teaching hospitals.
Media Services:
Media services are provided through the CAMC Health Education and Research Institute's Division of Education. These services include video production, computer/web-based training, in-house video networks for patients and staff, satellite conferencing and video conferencing facilities. Facilities and services include a 3 camera production studio, on-location video taping capabilities, digital non-linear video editing, computer graphics/animation design and audio and video encoding. |
