The Osteopathic Internship at Charleston Area Medical Center is sponsored by the Mountain State OPTI and the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine . You'll find a strong emphasis on broad-based primary care, serving a diverse population of patients from both urban and rural communities.

Our faculty is dedicated to training osteopathic physicians capable of practicing in a full range of environments. Interns are encouraged to develop their own interests and explore the resources of CAMC, the state's largest teaching hospital.

The twelve-month rotating program includes three months in medical services, three months in surgery, two months in pediatrics and one month each in family practice, emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, and an elective. Responsibilities and duties of interns are equal to those of first year residents. Many of our interns go on to complete residencies at CAMC in a variety of fields including pediatrics, psychiatry, internal medicine, family medicine, surgery and, OB-Gyn.

Also available at CAMC is a dual track Osteopathic Family Practice residency. Dual track fully accredited programs are also available in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and Urology . These three-year programs allows DO's to sit for both the osteopathic and allopathic boards upon completion.
